DESCRIPTION  

In summer 2010 Dirk Brossé was appointed music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. During his inauguration concert that same year, he gave a musical surprise to the city in which he was to work for the next decade: the Philadelphia Overture. This work is dedicated to the city – America’s first capital – and to its people. In it we hear the energy, the power, the freedom and the vitality of multi ethnic Philadelphia: the City of Brotherly Love….

percussion 1: glockenspiel – clashed cymbals – temple blocks – triangle – bar chimes –

                      snare drum

percussion 2: sizzle cymbal – suspended cymbal

mallets: tubular bells – xylophone – glockenspiel

World premiere by INSO – Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dirk Brossé on November 15, 2015, at National Opera Kiev, Ukraine.
